Milan-based design firm Cappellini has taken comfort and style to a whole new level with its cozy Lud’o lounge armchair. This chair looks like any other piece at first, but given its design uniqueness, it embraces you like your favorite feather-padded jacket or coat.

That said, Lud’o is not like a regular armchair with a removable cover. What makes it special is that the entire upholstery can be removed from its shell and can be replaced by another one. Making it possible to change its look and comfort to the altering season, occasion or mood.

Patricia Urquiola, a Spanish-born and Italian-based designer collaborated with Cappellini to bring this innovative idea to life. This chair is a tribute to the renowned Italian industrial designer and architect Ludovico Magistretti. He had mentored Patricia during her early years.

Lud’o lounge chair is made up of recycled polyethylene which is also recyclable while polyurethane foam and polyester fiber have been used for padding. Its base comes in various versions including a conical metal swivel that is varnished in black. Other versions of its base have four solid legs or spokes made by ash wood which are further available in black stained, oak stained, or wengé stained.

The armchair measures 29.5-inches wide, 34.25-inches deep and is 38.25-inches high.  Incidentally, the chair for its unique design and function won the prestigious ‘Good Design Award’ in 2020.
