We all shun small living spaces just because we are so much fascinated with big, lavish homes. Suggesting that small spaces can make great home, Carige Walters, a bar and restaurant designer by profession, along with wife Jennifer converted some part of his garage (of a new home they shifted to) into a small home. Technically speaking, the 150 square feet area converted into a home is a carport, which has been full time home for Walters’ friend for good one year. The self-made studio apartment of sorts comes complete with a small kitchen and bathroom. Keeping with the midcentury modern aesthetic, the living room and bedroom is one open space (without partition), kitchen is without a countertop, while the bathroom has double shower and water heater. The little home, some 60 miles north of San Francisco, keeps the concrete flooring and wooden support beams holding up the carport, just as they were previously, when the earlier occupants of the house were using this space as a bog house. The garage home (if I may call it) is so special of the Walters family that the couple rented out their main house to friends one summer and moved into this small home.
