Weary of working from your desk at home or from your couch? Or maybe craving an upbeat alternative to rule out the monotony without shelling out money? How about turning to your backyard shed? Yes, you heard it right! While there are sheds that are still being bought purely for storage purposes, many have been transformed into studios, workstations, or simply a place to retreat.

Have a look at Franskenshed, crowned as 2023’s winner at the 17th Cuprinol Shed of the Year Competition. Envisioned and conceptualized by Archie Proudfoot, an artist and sign painter from London, the backyard cabin is an endeavor to upstage into a brighter and more colorful living space. A fruit of true labor and love, the shed calls for being recognized largely by judges as this year’s overall winner.

Fondly dubbed as “brought it back from the dead” the shed made a mark against 200 impressive shed entrants. With its technicolor transformation, Franskenshed stands tall seizing the introductory categories of ‘Colourful’ and ‘Simply but Effective’ awards at the competition justifying its name.

Inspired to revamp a dilapidated shed constricted by budget, the Franskenshed comes as a breath of fresh air. The shed is Archie’s most elaborate and delightful piece of artwork ever created. Utilizing recycled materials and decorative artwork to transform a standard battered shed into an award-winning creative haven is commendable!

What kept me hooked, just like the judges was the impressive layout of The Franskenshed. Pagan chapel to DIY styling, a tree of life and celebrating the tools used in creating the vibrant shed is embossed with intricate details in every nook and corner. The mesmerizing ceiling represents zodiac signs, planetary systems and mythological legends at large.

A retrieving haven for pottering plants, writing, sketching, and creative work; the utilization of this spunky retreat is left up to the imagination of the users. The use of colors in the interior, as opposed to bold rich black-painted exterior contrast, allures and delights the overall look of this humble backyard cabin.
