Deniz Aktay has come up with hundreds of furniture design concepts with the likes of the Converse coffee table and Winding side table. However, his latest innovation of a sculptural-shaped side table is the best among the lot. If you think we have any personal favouritism for the Stuttgart-based designer; no that is not the case. Because, it’s not just us who are talking about the unique bookrack design, people on Instagram are also in absolute awe of it.
“The biggest challenge is to share your ideas with the public. I met so many nice people, got lovely comments, so much good advices, much encouragement,” said Deniz Aktay in a conversation with Homecrux. Well, his biggest challenge seems to pay him off well as the German designer’s latest project Bookgroove is a massive hit on social media with near to hundred-thousand likes on his Instagram handle.
Bookgroove is a unique bookrack table that is cylindrical in shape and features a storage section to house your favorite books. The storage section is obviously the biggest talking point of the design. It is curvy and can store about two dozen of small to medium-sized books. The wooden side table looks like a sculpture that makes some space for your books in order to serve as a unique bookrack.
A long deep and curved groove cutout from a solid wood cylinder is the main feature of this side table bookrack hybrid. With its compact form it doesn’t take that much space and is an allrounder at once. The groove is curved to highlight and emphasize the roundness of the cylindric main part. So it harmoniously fits in its overall shape and appears like in a constant movement.

Overall, the table looks fine but the question arises, how practical it is. Well, Deniz doesn’t answer it yet. But he states that his focus is on getting more and more visibility on social media. “I could attract attention from various interesting manufacturers – so my first professional jobs in designing and furniture realization as well as in visualizing them are just getting started, heads.
