For those who are interested in creating their own DIY weather station, Adafruit has recently featured a guide to building a compact, battery-powered weather display. Suitable for a desk or a wall, this tiny unit features an ESP8266 and a 2.4-inch TFT touchscreen display.

Using Wunderground API, accurate weather data can be displayed on the screen. It can show the date, time, current weather conditionals, four-day forecast and even moon phases.

The components used in the project are:

Adafruit Feather HUZZAH with ESP8266
Adafruit 2.4-inch TFT Feather Wing
Collin’s Lab: Soldering

Furthermore, other parts to build the project include:

2000mAh Rechargeable Battery (Optional)
Slide Switch (Optional)

After collecting all these essential parts, you need to setup a couple of Arduino libraries and assemble everything together systematically. The resulting piece is a tiny weather station to show the latest weather information in a nice and simple way. For full DIY guide, visit Adafruit website.
