As Halloween approaches, DIY enthusiasts start making the spookiest creations of the year! One recent example is of Jaimie and Jay of Wicked Makers YouTube channel, who have made a spooky cat house for their 8-month old Sphynx cat named Oberon.

This DIY jack-o’-lantern cat house is made from a balloon, paper mache, and rope. It’s not just a cat house but also a scratching post and bed. They initiated the project after realizing their cat’s bad habit of scratching the furniture! Its design is inspired by the DIY cat house by Evan and Katelyn.

The DIY starts by making a sturdy pumpkin shape. For this, they used a wire frame, blew up a balloon within, and covered the frame with newspaper and then a second layer of brown paper bag. The duo has coated the pumpkin shape with resin to make the structure withstand the forthcoming few days before the All Hallows Eve.

A jack-o’-lantern face is cut on the pumpkin and then individual pieces of sisal rope colored in orange fabric dye are glued them on, following the contour of the pumpkin. Lastly, the stem crafted out of rope and wire is also affixed to it.

All these steps resulted in a beautiful pumpkin-shaped cat house with a rope pattern and texture. For complete details of the project, check out the tutorial at Instructables.
