A DIYer is getting attention on social media for his DIY spherical speakers, which are made out of IKEA salad bowls. He needed smaller and lighter speakers for his place, but instead of buying a pair from the market, he decided to build his own stereo speakers.

For the DIY project, he stumbled upon a DIY audio technology forum and found the project that he was looking for. He rushed to an IKEA store to purchase four salad bowls that cost him about $44.

After cutting the bottoms of two of the salad bowls, using a saw, he sanded their edges. These sections were cut to attach speaker heads on them. A binding post was also attached to the back portion to house all loose wires. After that, all audio gears were fixed into the wooden bowls.

The speaker was painted white, and when the paint dried the speaker heads and legs were attached. For the speaker’s legs, drawer knobs were used. Likewise, he designed the second one to complete the DIY spherical speakers.
