Summers are here and you should already have your camping gear out. In case, your pick-up still awaits a minimal camping partner, bear a thought for the DOT Alpaca. Designed to fit almost all North American pick-up trucks, this is an all-in-one camper finished in an aluminum shell to render it lightweight and capable of all-weather camping.

DOT or Days on Tracks, is a German adventure company bent on customizing solutions for adventurers seeking independent and safe travel far away from regular campsites. DOT Alpaca thrives on this approach and is the perfect choice for an outdoor adventure, irrespective of the weather outside.

Provided with basic amenities to sleep at the back of the truck, the Alpaca is slightly more compact than other truck campers that happen to occupy the entire truck bed from bottom to top. Aesthetically pleasing and instinctively more minimal, the DOT Alpaca is not a permanent installation and occupies only the top half, leaving the entire inside space to live and store your gear.

To facilitate camping, the Alpaca comes with a lightweight rooftop tent with a removable tent shell. The sides are wood paneled and feature window hatches for light and air. Alongside the tent that clamps to the edge of the loading of the pick-up, DOT offers queen-size bed and color-changing ambient LED lighting.

Its installation is simple and secure, while triple-powder-coated aluminum construction provides the much-needed robustness to design. Interestingly, the rooftop tent arrives in a range of colors and choice of materials. It weighs around 170kgs allowing over 8 feet of headroom inside when open.

Just like being compatible with most pick-ups, the DOT Alpaca is also made to work with industry-influencing off-road accessories and camping equipment. If you like the idea and the application of the DOT Alpaca camper, you can now preorder its first launch edition for roughly $8,400.
