One persistent problem with teardrop trailers is the lack of a toilet and bathroom. What’s worse is that some trailer manufacturers, in a bid to add these facilities, end up cramping the toilet into such tight spaces that it’s practically impossible to sit down, let alone use comfortably. Indiana-based trailer manufacturer Encore RV recognized these realities and introduced the Encore ROG 12RK-FB, a trailer whose main USP is its bathroom.

Showcased at Overland Expo Arizona 2026, the Encore ROG 12RK-FB comes equipped with a deployable part-time bathroom packed inside a rugged cargo box mounted on the trailer tongue. When not in use, it stores flat and locked. When needed, it sets up in minutes. So, how does it work?

CC Weiss of New Atlas explains in his write-up that “the strut-assisted box lid opens sideways across the trailer’s width to serve as the outer tent wall, while integrated frame members swivel around to hold the roof up in place.” Next, two-piece side poles push the fabric walls outward, keeping them off the person inside.

The result is a standing space that opens to nearly seven feet tall, considerably more than the four-foot hard-wall cabin interior. The floor of the box is a proper tub with a drain, fed by an integrated hot/cold shower sprayer. The unit also includes a built-in Thetford cassette toilet. Ventilation and privacy are handled by zip-down mesh screen windows on each wall. Other features include an EVA foam mat on the floor that provides grip when wet, and a magnetic closure on the entry fabric for quick access.

Moving on to the other features, the ROG 12RK measures 15 feet long and is nearly eight feet wide. Inside, the Encore ROG 12RK-FB packs a futon-style queen mattress that converts to a sofa for daytime use. The front wall is prewired for a TV, and a 32-inch LED is available as an option alongside a Bluetooth speaker.

The trailer also features a kitchen with a dual-burner slide-out propane stove, a sink with a countertop, and a 93-liter 12V refrigerator. Not to mention, a fold-down side shelf that accommodates an optional 25-inch dual-burner griddle.

Other features include a 163-liter fresh water tank, an on-demand water heater, and an outdoor shower sprayer. Construction-wise, it features an aluminum frame, a single-piece fiberglass roof, and composite panel walls. The ROG 12RK-FB weighs 2,800 lbs and starts at $34,449 in Adventure trim. The standard ROG 12RK without the bathroom starts at $27,900.
