Today we will make you familiar with the Tapered Home located in the suburban area of Shunde, China. The owner of this home happened to be a die hard fan of Bruce Lee and wanted to make a vacation home for himself that was entirely devoted to his idol. He engaged the Hong Kong based firm Index Architecture to create this tapered house. While constructing this home, the architects have precisely designed the house from its wacky shape to the placement of each window by keeping in mind to display the owner’s wide collection of Bruce Lee.

The Tapered Home occupies a trapezoidal area measuring 7,212 square feet. It is divided into two connected wings. The narrow wing towards the south of the building houses the display gallery, which mainly consist of first edition Bruce Lee movie posters. This telescopic  gallery ends up to a landscaped garden. As these posters are sensitive to natural light, the window openings are carefully positioned along the gallery, allowing natural light to enter in a discreet way. The wider wing of the home includes a kitchen, dining area and a living room on the first level providing direct access to the garden. The second level comprises of a big master bedroom with a beautiful garden view. The paneled exterior built with raw far-faced concrete inscribes Bruce Lee’s fundamental belief in, ‘being no limit is the limit, being shapeless is the shape’.
