The Fantail tiny house designed by New Zealand-based Elite Tiny Homes is a 312-square-foot mobile dwelling that blurs the line between indoors and outdoors. Measuring 36.5 feet long and 8.5 feet wide, the Fantail is built on a custom double-axle galvanized trailer. It is clad in twice-oiled shiplap Fijian mahogany with black steel accenting and features a Macrocarpa barn-style truss and gable roof.

The expansive glazing throughout the home allows sunlight and vast views of the great outdoors to enter the interior, whereas the LED lights with dimmer functions brighten the space during nighttime. The windows and the French doors lend a distinctive look to the home that helps it stand out from Elite Tiny Homes’ catalog of similarly-sized micro-dwellings.

Inside, it is finished with Herringbone SPC light oak waterproof flooring, plush carpeting underfoot in the lofts and the slat feature headboard adds symphony and sophistication to the house. It has an unfurnished living room that is left for user customization. Nearby is the kitchen which includes cabinets, a two-hob electric cooktop, a fridge, a sink, and a washer/dryer. Not to mention, multiple powerpoints and USB outlets throughout the house.

Another interesting aspect of the Fantail tiny house is clever space utilization. One can notice the under-stairs storage units strategically placed between the kitchen and bathroom allowing plenty of storage. There is also a passthrough window in the kitchen bringing glimpses of the picturesque outdoors of New Zealand.

The Fantail features two loft bedrooms. One can be accessed via a storage-integrated staircase, while the second can be reached via a removable ladder. Underneath one of the lofts lies the full-size bathroom. Contrary to the simple and subtle kitchen, the bathroom is luxurious and features a five-feet bathtub with a 5-jet hand shower.

The Fantail tiny house gets power from a standard RV-style hookup, and its insulation consists of thermal-resistant material. Priced at $81,330 (NZD 135,000), the tiny home can be purchased from the Elite Tiny Homes official website.
