La Forestale is a secluded, ecolodge in the protected reserve of the Furlo Canyon in Acqualagna, Italy. It was a former forest service station sustainably renovated as a luxury tourist accommodation. This renovated architecture project aims to minimize its overall carbon footprint while also benefiting visitors to the area by serving as a B&B-style lodge amidst nature.
The four-story renovated building makes the best use of sunlight and surrounding natural views. Consequently, it has large floor-to-glass windows to provide uninterrupted outside views and also employs solar energy to reduce its dependence on the grid. Furthermore, its exteriors are clad in sustainable wood by Norwegian firm Kebony that helps the structure blend into natural setting over time.
There is a huge photovoltaic system comprising a total of 54 LG solar panels and a storage system for energy needs. The solar panels are creatively included in the building design, which distinguishes the project.

This exceptional ecolodge includes five different rooms with a large living area, bay windows with splendid views, terrace and even a swimming pool. Each room at the Forestale is equipped with a bathroom, views of the landscape, a walk-in shower, toilet and bidet, coatings and other luxurious equipment. There are no televisions nor ACs – guests have to settle with the idea of “immersion in the pure nature.”
