Google has recently launched its next-generation Nest cameras and doorbell. These smart home security products aim to provide customers with smarter alerts, wire-free installation, plus enhanced privacy and security in an eye-pleasing form factor.

The collection includes Nest’s first battery-powered outdoor/indoor camera and a doorbell. There is also a connected floodlight camera and an affordable wired indoor camera in the collection. Equipped with TPU chip, these security cameras use machine learning to recognize different objects.

The Nest Cam and Doorbell include features that are usually provided on a subscription basis, thanks to on-device processing no subscription is required here. The users can enjoy features like Activity Zones and smart alerts, including package, animal, vehicle and person detection, plus three hours of event video history at no additional cost. Both the products can also record up to a week’s worth of events even if power or Wi-Fi is out.

Nest Cam and Doorbell’s wire-free designs with built-in rechargeable batteries and optional power connectors make the installation more flexible. They can be used at places with no power outlet and wiring at all.

The Nest Cam indoor/outdoor and doorbell are priced at $180, the Google Nest Cam with a floodlight costs $280 and the wired Google Nest Cam is priced at $100.
