Google may have dropped to the third position in the global smart speaker segment but the internet giant is continuously expanding its market. In the process, Google recently launched the Nest Hub smart speaker with a touchscreen display in India. It is being commercialized as an ultimate digital photo frame because it can display your images from Google Photos.

Powered with Google Assistant with Voice Match, it is a smart home assistant that can play music and videos, as well as control smart home devices. It features a 7-inch touchscreen with an ambient EQ sensor and a light sensor that adjusts light according to need.

The touchscreen also serves as an inclusive dashboard to control all smart devices from one place. Just like most of smart home speakers, the Google Nest Hub (formerly the Google Home Hub) also lets you voice control compatible smart home devices.

You can set up custom routines to start smart devices automatically on different times of the day. For example, you can create an evening routine that turns off lights and sets up a morning alarm for you. It can remember personalized routines of up to six different persons.

Aside from Google apps and services like YouTube, Calendar, Google News, Duo, and Play Store, it is compatible with third party apps including Spotify, Voot, Gaana, and JioSaavn.

The smart speaker supports Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi, Chromecast devices, and multi-room audio. You can also ask Google Nest Hub questions about recipes, businesses, sports and do a lot more.

Priced at ₹9,999 (about $140), the Google Nest Hub is available for purchase in India in two colors through the company’s official online store, Flipkart, Tata Cliq, and other offline partners.

Interestingly, Google has partnered with Xiaomi and is offering a Mi home security camera for free if you buy the Nest Hub from Flipkart or Tata Cliq. It’s only a limited period offer though.
