Santiago-based design workshop gt2P (great things to People) recently unveiled their latest ‘Remolten’ stool series. Dubbed “Remolten N°1: Revolution Series,” the stools are made from natural Chilean volcanic lava rock. This collection evokes the primitive furniture of mankind’s revolution in the modern context.  Volcanic rocks have been crushed and re-melted to form unique shapes for the stoneware series. Each item in the lava rock furniture collection is one-of-a-kind and a hundred percent handmade.

To create the lava rock furniture, volcanic rocks have been crushed and re-melted to form unique shapes for the stoneware series. Each item in the lava rock furniture lineup is one-of-a-kind and 100-percent handmade.

This collection features three different stool designs, which are created by varying heating and cooling temperatures during the crafting process. Trapelco stool has a smooth appearance, Mahuanco stool features ‘dripping lava’ design, and Quitralco stool boasts rough textural finish. Each unit is hand-crafted directly with volcanic lava to come out as a unique piece for modern homes.

The lava rock furniture collection can be used indoors or outdoors as a part of modern furnishings. This latest collection is an outcome of second collaboration with New York Gallery Friedman Benda. The first pieces of Remolten N°1: Revolution Series will be showcased at Salon: Art + Design from November 10-14 and at Design Miami from November 30 to December 4, 2016.
