Camper trailers come in different shapes and sizes, with one common feature. All of them can be towed by a vehicle as they have their own set of wheels. But highway towing restrictions in some parts can be a hassle, especially when you are planning an adventure trip to new locations. So, why not have a towable trailer that has no wheels?

Hitch Hotel is the world’s first expandable wheel-less trailer that provides over 135 cubic feet of space when it is in a completely open position. When it needs to be towed, it constricts to 60 cubic feet of space, ideal to be attached to any vehicle (having Class 3 trailer hitch) for transport. The biggest advantage of the trailer is it can be set up in no time, virtually faster than pitching a tent.

The trailer is designed with the idea of simplicity in mind as it serves as a cargo storage option (bike, snowboards, wakeboards, luggage or camping gear) when in transit, and when it’s time to rest, the trailer serves a sleeping space for two. Although, the makers claim that three people can fit in easily, but that would be a bit uncomfortable for catching a good night’s sleep.

The lightweight T6 aluminum frame expands in just a few minutes and sits on four ladder supports. Keeping good ventilation in mind, the makers have incorporated vents and windows at appropriate locations. Because, no one would want to experience shortness of breath in the middle of the night.

If you are expecting a kitchenette inside the camping trailer, your expectations are too high. It is just a cargo box with nothing more than a waterproof tent which slides out in seconds. Therefore, it is only going to appeal to niche buyers who have such specific requirements for road trips.

Currently, the project is asking for funds on Kickstarter and planning to hit the market in coming months. The early-bird price of this one-of-a-kind trailer is $2,998 with shipment estimated by September 2018. The retail price, however, is going to be $4,499. So, it’s a good idea to invest in the project if you like it already.
