We are so tired of our busy and monotonous lives that given a chance we’d all just want to escape into the wild for some peace and serenity. Taking leaf, French architectural designers Bruit Du Frigo have designed and built an outdoor shelter dubbed Le Tronc Creux. The wooden outdoor shelter is part of a series spread around Bordeaux, France. It has been perceived from a notion of forming a hiking path around the city of Bordeaux in order to connect parks, forests and wastelands into one.
The free availability of the Le Tronc Creux outdoor shelters provides all local inhabitants an option to move out of their busy schedules on a short holiday without having to travel too far from home. The exterior of the shelter is striking on the first glance, it has cutout windows and well-spaced black wooden detailing. What makes the Le Tronc Creux atypical to other mountain refuges is that the conditions inside the shelter are pretty natural – there is no light and water.
The structure can accommodate nine persons comfortably and serves the same purpose as most mountain retreats providing the closest connection with the wild for anyone who wants to experience nature at its natural best in the landscape adjacent to home.
