Hozo’s grown into a go-to brand for creators and DIYers. The company’s portfolio is stocked up with products like the eternal pencil, sanding block, and ultrasonic cutter we reviewed in 2025. Hozo is now extending its league with perhaps my favourite product in its selection. A palm-sized electric sander designed for creators who want the ultimate perfection in the final detailing stage of their projects.

Traditional rotary tools promise to do the task, but by virtue of their construction, are overly aggressive and not suited to the finest detailing. NeoSander focuses on the kind of fine-detail sanding that previous rotary tools have not achieved, allowing miniatures, 3D prints, models, and other delicate surfaces to be dealt with finesse.

NeoSander is powered by a patented reciprocating linear motor, which replaces the spinning gear and rod found in the handheld rotary tools. The motor here is mounted vertically to drive the sanding head straight in a back-and-forth motion. According to Hozo, the linear approach reduces vibration and helps prevent surface gouging, essentially when the creator is working on defining edges, smoothening corners, and cleaning narrow gaps.

NeoSander operates at up to 13,000 strokes per minute, with adjustable lengths from 0.6 mm to 1.8 mm. Being lightweight and powerful, it can work with balanced speed and control, making it more than a stable and precise tool for everyday use. The compact, handheld device features an aluminium alloy shell and a dustproof silicone cover, which carries an IP54 waterproof rating.

Tipping the scale at only 3.13 oz (89 g), this cordless detail sander is powered by a 3.7V, 1,100 mAh battery offering up to 45 minutes of heavy-duty detailing. Clearly, at its size and user-convenience, NeoSander is built specifically for micro-precision jobs; it’s not for bulk material removal as much.

What makes it really versatile is support for eight interchangeable heads and as many grits of sandpaper. The interchangeable heads deal with a variety of shapes, while grit options range from 180 to 1,500, with foam-layer sheets included for sanding irregular surfaces. Hozo provides a color-coded storage block to keep head-and-grit combinations sorted together.

Beyond sanding, NeoSander can also be converted into a mini reciprocating saw using curved or jigsaw-style blades. This call allows the tool to cut, trim, and slice wood or plastic without having to switch devices. NeoSander Pro (a single unit) is available for preorder for $70 on Kickstarter now. For $130, you can also get the NeoSander Premium Kit, comprising additional accessories such as saw attachments, sanding heads, and a charging dock.
