We all are aware of the increasing drinking water scarcity due to global warming. That’s why many brands are coming up with water-efficient solutions, like water-saving taps and shower systems. Even IKEA has a range of showers and taps integrated with water-efficient regulators for optimal water flow; however, they seem to cut down water usage in households even more with their latest creation – the dual-mode ÅBÄCKEN Water Nozzle.

It minimizes water flow

For this new water-saving tap nozzle, they have partnered with Swedish company Altered and an IKEA supplier in Spain. Designed by Erik Thomasson, the nozzle can easily fit any IKEA tap or any other standard tap available on the market. What’s make it unique is the potential to limit water flow as low as 1.9L/min in spray mode and 0.25L per minute in the mist mode.

Compared to standard mixer taps with a water flow rate of 5.7L/min, the ÅBÄCKEN water nozzle can save around 95-percent water in its mist mode and up to 66-percent water in the spray mode. It means you can reduce the water amount used for everyday activities in bathroom, like washing the face and hands, brushing teeth, etc.

The spray mode delivers water at a certain flow rate and force for cleaning activities, like washing off dirt from hands or scraping bristles of a toothbrush. For lighter washing purposes, you can use the mist mode that vents airy droplets for moistening the skin and the object’s surface.

Employs patented technology

This ergonomically designed nozzle is result of the Altered’s patented brass nozzle, which also boasts the same dual-mode. Both companies decided to employ this technology and create a nozzle at an affordable price point.

Availability

According to IKEA, it is an innovative product to save water at home. Since the makers have used engineered plastic to create the ÅBÄCKEN Water Nozzle, it is cheaper and suitable for mass production, and highly environmentally friendly as well. It is priced $6 at the official website and comes with a 3-year warranty.
