Dutch designer J.P. Meulendijks has created eye-catching Lock Table that boasts interlaced legs, which are made from layers of flexible bamboo veneer. The layers of bamboo are beautifully locked into each other, adding a playful twist to modern interior.

Design

The base of the table has a muscular form that looks different when viewed from different angles. The glass tabletop offers obstacle-free view of the curvy, entangled base. The designer has himself created the plating layers and pressed them into a mold to form flawless sculpture. Highlighting feature of the wooden table is its bamboo veneers that have two colors: natural and caramel. A mixture of colors further gives a layer of reinforcing effect to draw the overall shape of the table.

Why bamboo?

Meulendijks was looking for a natural material to design the table. He selected bamboo veneer due to its flexibility and aesthetic appeal. This renewable material has the ability to bend into any desired shape. The end result is a commendable blend of nature and mathematics, forming unbelievably elegant layout.

It is a sculptural furniture for any contemporary home. For those who look for minimalist aesthetic and practical furniture, this coffee table is perfect. To see other creations by the designer, check out his official website.
