Jackery is extending its trusted backup power convenience to the most important appliance in your home with the launch of the FridgeGuard, which it claims is the slimmest refrigerator backup battery ever made. Frankly, I didn’t take that for a world and went back to cross-check the claim. Measuring 2.6 inches (67mm) slim, FridgeGuard has money where its mouth is. It beats the nearest slim competition from Bluetti’s FridgePower, which measures 2.95 inches (75 mm) thick.

With its ultra-slim form factor, the FridgeGuard, Jackery loosely affirms, is made for modern, design-conscious households that “apply high standard to every product they choose.” To earn its place amid the other appliances and to also gel well with the interiors, Jackery has dropped its signature orange-and-black color scheme to create the FridgeGuard in silver colorway, so that it can complement contemporary stainless steel appliances in the kitchen.

The fridge backup battery weighs just 23 lbs., and its interesting design “shatters the old convention that household utilities must be hidden out of sight,” placing the battery right next to the fridge. It can be used in different orientations precisely to the kitchen’s layout. It draws power from a wall socket and can stand on the floor, be mounted on a wall, or sit horizontally on the fridge itself.

Using the FridgeGuard is as convenient as its setup. This plug-and-play device boasts a LiFePO4 battery with 1024Wh capacity that runs nonstop for 15 hours off the grid. It is compatible with refrigerators of all stripes and can be paired with an expansion battery to double the backup from 15 to 30 hours, making it ideal for households in regions with regular grid failures or brownouts.

If the power doesn’t return after 30 hours and the FridgeGuard’s battery conked off, Jackery has made a provision. The battery supports solar charging or can draw power from your running vehicle to provide consistent energy backup throughout longer-term emergencies. The battery is also designed to last. Jackery confirms it “retains at least 70 percent capacity after 6,000 cycles.”

To ensure minimum transfer time, Jackery’s refrigerator power backup supports 10ms UPS switching. This can prevent even a momentary interruption in the power supply to the connected device. Yes, the FridgeGuard is purpose-built for the refrigerator, but it’s equally suitable for other critical appliances like aquarium pumps, CPAP machines, Wi-Fi routers, or security cameras that need to keep running during blackouts.

In addition to the long backup and instant switchover, the unit supplies up to 1600W peak output and also features bypass mode, to direct power straight to the refrigerator once its battery is fully charged. It also offers surge protection to auto-manage grid anomalies like voltage spikes and power instabilities.

Jackery has launched FridgeGuard via Costco exclusively. Costco members can grab it at 20% off for $559.99 now. It otherwise retails for $699.99.
