Since ages the moon has not only been inspiration for numerous things like love songs and artistic exertion, but also influenced many architects to create unique home designs. Similarly, Japanese architect Fumi Aso has also added moony touch into her recent creation- the Moon House.

Aso was commissioned to design a minimalist yet contemporary home for working parents and their ‘kagikko’ i.e. key children, who let themselves in when they get home from school. So to make it a fun place to return home after school or work, Aso has tried to bring minimal celestial effect into the modern abode.

Keeping in mind the movement of a celestial body, the architect has cleverly shaped the house with curved walls, sparse interiors and exposed ceilings. The interior of the entire house is white-washed and features series of narrow passageways that remained undefined. These boundless margins are created to help inhabitants reset their thoughts to neutral, unwinding mind after a hectic day.

Beside dynamic interior, lily pad-like series of concrete circles at entryway adds heavenly feel to the minimal architectonics. Due to the house’s simple yet modern layout, Aso is recently acknowledged as the best new architect by Kansai chapter of the Architectural Institute of Japan. The architectural design is indeed worth all the appreciation and proves how beautifully one can add natural caress into their routine life.
