You like sensor-enabled automatic doors that open as you approach them? They are simple fantastic, but really expensive to afford. If you are an appreciator of functional design, then Evolution Door, which opens and closes on a slight touch, folding amicably like a piece of paper can be your near true inexpensive alternative to automatic doors. Designed and developed by Austrian artist Klemens Torggler, the 4 panel door (christened as flip panel door by the maker) is an innovative installation based on rotating squares. The Evolution Door’s tailored construction makes it possible for the door to move sideways without use of any tracks.

The Torggler Door, as you may call it, is made of 10mm steel panels measuring 212cm x 108cm. Vienna-based designer has been designing such creative kinetic sculptures (doors) for years now and some of these are available through Artelier Contemporary. I’m really fascinated by the Evolution Door, leave your thoughts below in the comment section.
