German industrial designer Konstantin Grcic in collaboration with Italian furniture brand Magis has created a contemporary monobloc chair made entirely from recycled polypropylene. Dubbed Bell Chairs, these are made of recycled polypropylene obtained from the waste generated by Magis’ furniture production and local car industry.

The main idea was to use minimum resources to make a versatile, recyclable, and affordable plastic chair. Weighing just 2.7 kilograms, this chair is lighter than average plastic chairs. It is stackable and also fully recyclable.

Its bell-shaped shell with bulbous geometry ensures the chair is structurally strong, comfortable, and good to look at. The reduction in the use of material to create these chairs means less energy is consumed during production which consequently saves costs.

The eco-responsibility of the Bell Chair is further enhanced with a logistics concept that helps in lowering additional costs. The company is using a specially designed delivery pallet that can stack up to 24 chairs in order to lower the transportation volume and optimize cost.

The Bell chair is designed to be versatile and can be used in different settings including homes and offices. Available in three colors, it can be bought for €77 about ($90) at the official website.
