When it comes to buying camping gear from popular Japanese brands like Snow Peak and Toyo Steel in the USA, Kōrogi is a name you might have heard before. Expanding its offerings, the Oregon-based outdoor gear retailer has launched the Grahus tent from Japan-based Tokyo Crafts for the first time ever in the US market. Introduced in Japan in 2024, the Grahus tent aims to provide a spacious and safe shelter for group camping or extended stays.

The tent is designed with the motive to make the interior space comfortable and connected to the outdoors while being easy to carry around. It comes with large windows like glamping dome tents and a form with an underside that makes it expansive.

The Grahus tent is designed as a portable alternative to thick and bulky canvas safari tents. Made from 75D Polyester ripstop fabric with 2,000mm water resistance, it is designed to be used outdoors and is tested for 55mph winds. Its near-spherical form creates a striking silhouette unlike typical dome tents.

With high ceilings and outward-flared sides, the GRAHUS tent maximizes usable space to the edges. The height and structure of the tent create an open interior layout, with large side windows bringing outdoor views in, and making the space feel larger than its original size. The inhabitants can also use the included adjustable solid and mesh panels to adjust the airflow, privacy, and views as per different needs. There is even a zippered vent above each window for adjusting the airflow from inside the shelter.

The Grahus tent allows you to set it up in different ways: you can close one entrance panel and keep the other one open to make the interior space feel like a private room. In another layout, you can keep both doors open and leave the mesh closed, which allows you to enjoy an open-air experience without bugs. You can even expand both awnings to maximize the overall footprint and create an open-air pass-through.

The front panel of the tent can be adjusted to three positions – fully open, mesh, or fully closed to meet different requirements. The lower section of the front panel rolls up to improve airflow while maintaining privacy.

The Grahus tent is designed to sleep up to four people and features an interior height of 8.5 feet (2.6 m). Additionally, 14 interior rings can be used to hang lighting and other items. The tent is designed to fit within a standard 10m x 10m site. All the components, including the frame, pack down into a compact 14 x 14 x 28-inch carry case that weighs about 44 lbs.

Kōrogi is offering the Japanese-made Grahus tent in the US, and you can purchase it for a price of $1,200, with an optional floor costing $150 and the transparent TPU door panels for $220 per pair.
