LEGO has built the world’s largest FIFA World Cup Trophy in New York City with 1.3 million bricks. The 27-foot-tall installation now taking over Rockefeller Plaza has been created in collaboration with the football legend Cafu. Built from over 1.36 million LEGO bricks, this replica of the World Cup Trophy is one of the largest LEGO builds ever created. The giant work of art took a team of 59 experts over 7,000 hours to bring to life.

Cafu unveiled the build at the official opening of the LEGO Fan Zone in New York City. The behemoth installation celebrates the love for the game as we near the 2026 FIFA World Cup final. The massive build comes on the heels of LEGO Edition sets featuring four legendary players: Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, and Vini Jr, released at the start of the mega tournament.

Cafu said in the press release, “The FIFA World Cup Trophy is one of the most iconic symbols in sport, and seeing it recreated on this scale with LEGO bricks is truly incredible. The craftsmanship, creativity and attention to detail are remarkable.”

Towering over the square, the 8.47-meter-high (about 27 feet) LEGO FIFA World Cup Trophy celebrates the power of football and play to unite people across borders, cultures, and communities.

“Football has always been about bringing people together. Whether you’re playing in the street, cheering from the stands or watching with family and friends, it is one of the greatest tools for social inclusion in the world,” Cafu added.

A team of 59 designers, engineers, model builders, and technicians at the LEGO Group’s Model Production facility in Kladno, Czech Republic, worked on the installation. The trophy took eight months to develop and 7,040 man-hours to build and assemble. The structure is wrapped around a steel frame and was transported to the Plaza in 16 large sections. The installation is part of the brand’s ongoing mission to inspire the builders of tomorrow.
