Leica’s first notable smart projector, the Cine 1, was launched in 2023, followed by the Leica Cine Play 1 4K projector in 2024, which was distinguished by its high price and premium look. Building upon this lineup, Leica has introduced the portable Cine Play 1 Plus 4K tri-laser home cinema projector that offers increased brightness and enhanced color gamut coverage while lowering the price to make high-quality laser projection more accessible to a wider audience.

The Leica Cine Play 1 Plus is designed to be easily installed almost anywhere without the need for permanent mounting. Its built-in automatic calibration ensures a quick and effortless setup every time. Aesthetically, the projector features a new tunable twilight blue exterior, inspired by the night sky and the deep hues of a lake. It comes with a built-in tilt stand, but you can also put it on top of an optional stand.

The projector retains many core features of the original, including 4K resolution projection up to 300 inches, support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+. As of upgrades, the “Plus” model features improved brightness of 3,200 lumens and enhanced color gamut coverage of 110% BT.2020. It also includes a motorized focus and zoom.

The Leica Cine Play 1 Plus utilizes RGB tri-color laser technology with a lifespan of over 25,000 hours and the Leica Summicron zoom lens with a 0.9-1.5:1 throw ratio. Leica’s image processing technology, called Leica Image Optimization (LIO), uses special algorithms to make the projected image look natural and beautiful. This ensures vibrant, detailed, and realistic images for a more immersive viewing experience. There are also two 10W speakers with built-in DTS Virtual:X for 3D stereo sound.
