The smart home voice assistant market, which has been quite still for many years, is now seeing notable developments. OpenAI has finally unveiled its Advanced Voice Assistant while Home Assistant has made an entry into the niche market with its new privacy-focused voice assistant. Adding to the momentum, the consumer electronics giant LG Electronics also teased its LG ThinQ ON AI Home Hub earlier this year, which features its own AI-powered voice assistant capable of understanding natural daily conversations, even the context.

Featuring a cylindrical form factor and a muted color palette, this compact device can blend into any space. It is equipped with an AI speaker that allows you to talk with LG’s AI voice assistant and listen to your favorite audio content. You can also control compatible appliances through voice commands to the device.

It is an OS-type hub that seamlessly pairs various LG devices within the home. With the integration of generative AI, the smart home device provides the desired information by utilizing the control functions and data of home appliances and IoT products within the smart home.

The ThinQ ON monitors all elements within the smart home ecosystem and notifies users about the completion of a task. Furthermore, you can check or change nearly all appliance settings using only voice commands and configure routines to automate the appliances.

The smart home hub is powered by LG’s unique Affectionate Intelligence that continuously learns from individual preferences as well as usage patterns and trends to customize customers’ daily experiences. As for connectivity, the ThinQ ON connects to various smart home devices through Thread, Matter, and Wi-Fi, and utilizes the LG Shield security system to protect customer data.

LG has revealed no details about the pricing and availability of the device but you can surely see it at LG SIGNATURE zone at CES 2025.
