Where some tiny houses in the market seem overstated in beauty and sophistication, the tiny houses made by Madeiguincho still hold ageless charm and simplicity in their warm wooden interiors, promoting a more intentional, simple way of living. Completed in 2022, it is a fully custom-made cedar wood dwelling for a painter, creating a cohesive, interactive space that fosters creativity. The Rata tiny house is designed to give freedom of mobility and a change of landscape, much-needed for creative endeavors.
Just like the company’s previous tiny houses, the Barca tiny house or the Salga tiny house, the Rata extensively uses locally sourced materials. Both exterior and interior incorporate wood, making it look rustic, traditional, like a cabin in the woods. Although it is a compact dwelling, it is efficient for full-time living with a kitchen, a bathroom, a loft, and a living area, offering comfort and a lower carbon footprint. Plenty of windows, including two in circular design, keep the interior drenched in soft light.
Upon entrance, the kitchen piques interest. It’s the heart of the home and typical of the company’s tiny house kitchens. It is kept minimal with a countertop, cooktop, sink, cabinets, and shelves, providing ample storage.
Soaking in the sun, the living room of the tiny house is the best spot. It’s elevated and packed with extra storage, ensuring there’s room for everything. Though it’s a usual layout we see frequently in the Madeiguincho’s tiny houses, it’s the ingenuity and practicality that make the space look and feel unique. This elevated area can also double as a daybed and a workspace for the painter, to get the ideas flowing, with a comfy mattress and plush cushions.

The loft bedroom is clearly designed for sleeping and stargazing with the skylight. The loft is compact with just enough space for a mattress, no headroom, and storage. At last, the bathroom is classy and modern with a spa-like ambiance. There’s a sink, shower, toilet, and adequate storage. Not to mention, the gold fittings that bring an accented vibe to the space.
There are solar panels on the roof for a more sustainable living. Apart from solar panels, the company mentions that the Rata tiny house is off-grid.
