California-based startup Mars Adventure Gear has unveiled the Mars Aeroblade, which is claimed to be the world’s slimmest four-season hardshell rooftop tent. Designed with electric vehicles in mind, the Aeroblade measures only 3.48 inches thick when closed, which is significantly slimmer than the 8-inch-thick Falcon 3 EVO, the previously slimmest rooftop tent we have featured.
With its ultra-slim, hinge-less design, the Aeroblade rooftop tent cuts drag, reduces wind noise, and helps improve EV range or fuel efficiency. CFD tests show it lowers drag by around 60 percent compared to standard rooftop tents, making it a great choice for electric vehicles, where drag uses 30-50 percent of energy.
Despite its slim design, the Aeroblade expands into a comfortable tent measuring 82.2 x 46.5 x 50 inches that can sleep two adults with ease. The tent features breathable triple-layer fabric, CNC-machined aluminum hardware, and a bolt-free look.
Weighing in at 110 lbs, it is heavier than the TentBox Go, currently the world’s lightest rooftop tent at 73 lbs, but it offers enhanced durability and all-season capability with extruded aluminum frame and CNC-machined billet aluminum latches. The UPF 50+ rated fabrics provide maximum UV protection while triple-layer breathable materials minimize overnight condensation.

The setup is simple and requires no tools, and can even be done by a single person. The rooftop tent is equipped with automotive-grade struts from Stabilus for automatically lifting up. The hinge-less design gives the tent a smooth, one-piece look and improves aerodynamics by removing extra exterior parts.
The Mars Aeroblade rooftop tent can also be enhanced with a thermal insulation liner, accessory crossbars, and more items to create a 4-season overlanding rig. The company states that it is compatible with most roof racks and crossbars; however, it is especially suitable for electric vehicles.
