Marshall has launched the new Stockwell III Speaker with the motive to level up with competitor brands in the portable audio segment. Building upon the earlier Stockwell II, this new portable speaker retains the signature retro design, but there are improvements in terms of audio, battery, and build quality. These updates make it more suitable for those looking for a louder speaker in the same price range, as well as modern-day, eco-conscious people.

Measuring 181 x 150 x 72 mm (7.1 x 5.9 x 2.8 inches) and weighing 2.9 lbs, it is designed as a travel companion that can be carried in backpacks. Resembling a guitar amp, this portable speaker delivers True Stereophonic 360-degree sound, which emits audio from both the front and the back of the speaker to create a multi-directional listening experience.

The drivers have been upgraded to a larger 3-inch woofer and two 1.75-inch wide-band drivers that offer a frequency range of 48-20,000 Hz. As an update, the speaker can now play louder, reaching a maximum sound pressure level of 86 dB SPL at a distance of 1 meter. It even comes with a dynamic loudness feature, which balances bass and treble so the sound remains rich and clear at different volume levels.

The key update for the portable speaker is its increased battery power, which makes it play music for more than 40 hours on a single charge. You need to charge it for just 20 minutes with a 30W USB-C PD charger to get eight hours of playtime. The unit can even be used as a power bank to charge your smartphone or other audio devices.

In terms of design and build quality, the Stockwell III looks nearly similar to the earlier model, but there are significant improvements. It now follows a modular design, which allows users to replace the faulty parts on their own. Each speaker comes with an improved IP55 dust and water-resistance rating, which means it can perform better outdoors. The onboard controls have also been updated with the inclusion of the M-button for preset access alongside rotary knobs for bass, treble, and volume.

Available in two colors, the Marshall Stockwell III portable Bluetooth speaker will be priced at £200 (approximately $270) on the official website.
