Mirador House by Gubbins Arquitectos is a private residence offering mesmerizing view of Chilean coastline. Designed by Victor Gubbins co-owner of architecture house, as his personal holiday home, the house is located in Tunquen, Chile.

The concrete Mirador House has taken its inspiration from Villa Savoye and some additional reference from ’60s and ’70s builds.

Sitting on the top of a cliff along with the coastline of Cachagua, the house is designed to complement both earth and water. Seen rising from the ground the house seems to be balancing on a smaller base volume thus displaying the cantilevered structures of the villa. Designed to appreciate the location and surrounding areas, the entrance of the house is accessed with the help of ramp that rises to main the floor, allowing you full view of the nearby areas.

The base of the house, which also becomes the base volume for the villa, is provided with changing room and toilet facilities for camping and swimming, whereas upper floor is positioned with living area, bedroom and bathroom with two equally proportioned balconies on both sides. The metallic spiral staircase located between the living room and roof grants access to terrace.

Designed as a retreat from fast growing commercialization, the villa can be easily spotted from the countryside and coastline. The 135 square-meter house by Gubbins Arquitectos cleverly prioritizes silence, landscape, individual and community in equality, thus offering space to enjoy solace and tranquility.
