IKEA has launched the new KOMPISHÄNG collection comprising 13 affordable, easily portable furniture and homeware pieces for short-term renters. None of the pieces cost more than $99, making the collection within reach of young city dwellers who often move and settle in quickly. Consisting of pieces like a desk, stools, a behind-the-door hanger, and hanging storage, the collection will have you feeling at home in an instant.
The collection came to life after spending time with young adults across central London to better understand how they lived and what they wanted. Made from solid pine, powder-coated steel, and durable canvas, the items are designed to blend high functionality with attractive style and convenient design.
Among the standout pieces from the collection is the KOMPISHÄNG hanging storage, made of 100 percent polypropylene plastic and featuring three compartments. The two loops on the top let you hang the instant closet organizer from your closet rod and easily store shoes, shirts, or your old pairs of jeans. It converts into a bag with a single zip, and the clothes reach the next destination already folded and sorted.
The KOMPISHÄNG desk and stools are another eye-catching portable option for frequent movers. They instantly create a chic dining setup in a domestic setting. The desk is made of clear lacquered solid pine and measures 40 inches wide, 22 inches deep, and 29 inches tall. Once done using, the legs fold under the table, making it easy to carry around and use in different corners of the same house.
The stools feature a painted solid birch top and are easily stackable when not in use. The stool legs can also interlock to create a multi-tier shelving system to further enhance functionality. The side table features a pine tabletop and fun brick-red legs, both of which fold together to create a flat structure that can be carried on your shoulder easily.

Apart from these, the collection also includes a plant pot, a shopping bag on wheels, a behind-the-door hanger, a mirror, and a mattress. With portability and belonging as central themes of the collection, the pieces are easy to take along, making every rental feel like home.
“We wanted the collection to be portable but still have a permanent look; people should feel settled and considered,” says Dora Ding, Product Developer at IKEA of Sweden. The KOMPISHÄNG Collection will launch across all IKEA stores in August 2026.
