Constant endeavor to modernize the cooking experience has popularized the emergence of new appliances and techniques that cater to various demanding needs of a culinary artist. Ranging from cutting-edge kitchen gadgets to futuristic cooking techniques, ground-breaking inventions are ruling the way we cook. The newest addition on the block is the Indiana-based start-up Newr’s modern induction cooktop. Cutting the hassle of cords and running on a chargeable battery, this cooktop defies the traditional cooking stove.

‘Chef’ – a fond name for the induction cooktop – is battery-powered and fully portable. However, the cooking system is still under development and is set to be realized by the end of the year. Powered by an integrated lithium-ion battery, the cooktop allows usage in off-grid situations as well.

A remarkable feature of this induction is that two Chef units can be clubbed together at once. A central dock claims to hold the two cooktops together, thus making it a dual burner stove at large. App connectivity with voice control support makes Chef an ideal portable camping stove. Setting timers, recommended temperature, and time for cooking, can all be controlled with the click of your smartphone.

Newr plans to complement the features by including full instructional recipes and notifications to make cooking full meals just as easy. A temperature reach as high as 665 °F (352 °C) allows to boil liquids in just over three minutes. Removing the hassles of bulky cords, the hot plate resembles a robotic vacuum cleaner.

Keeping in mind the camping trips or the cozy nights, Newr is working toward making Chef cook a day’s worth of meals on a full charge. Spotless, efficient operation yet the sleek and easily-storable design is what separates Chef from its counterparts. The hotplate may also prove to be a game changer for the ones who wish to downsize and live small.
