For Solar Decathlon Competition 2015, the students from the Technische Universität München (TUM) and the University of Texas at Austin (UTA) have constructed a futuristic eco-home dubbed NexusHaus. The eco-friendly house is part of the Austin University’s crowdfunding platform, Hornraiser. It is basically a prototype home that is designed to run completely on solar energy and also boasts high water efficiency.

NexusHaus is built from sustainable materials and equipped with solar panels on rooftop as well as efficient water-treatment system. Furthermore, canopy acts as a lightweight shade and rainwater catchment system. Due to these energy-efficient installations, it has become a plus-energy home that independently meets all its energy demands.

All energy resources are drawn from the solar-powered installations on the rooftop. On the other hand, water efficiency of the sustainable home is controlled through an integrated gray water system that recycles used household water and further replenishes outdoor vegetation and greenery. It is a futuristic home that solely meets its energy demands naturally without depending on artificial resources.
