Michal and Hana, a visionary couple based in the Czech Republic has converted an old Ford Transit ambulance into an amazing motor home so that they can explore the mesmerizing vallies of New Zealand . This completely self-contained and certified home on wheels can be parked legally in different wilderness sites of the country. While building the house-on-wheels, the couple focused on using natural materials and handmade decorative crafts in the personalization of interiors. This DIY campervan has sleeping space for two, a kitchen, storage spaces, and a small chemical toilet that makes it a real home. It doesn’t have a shower, but a solar-powered open air shower is included to meet basic requirements while travelling on the road.

The plywood interiors looks rustic, while a number of New Zealand-themed wood artworks designed and laser cut by Michal adds a unique touch to the mobile home. A 120 watt rooftop solar panel powers the batteries used for energy requirements, and  they can also be charged with the vehicle’s alternator. This off-grid mobile home is also sustainable as it contains separate containers for fresh and grey water.

There is a transforming seating that turns into a bed for the couple, and a skylight lets them stargaze at night. For entertainment purposes, the couple incorporated a chessboard under the tabletop. The kitchen area is equipped with an oven, sink and a small fridge so that they can cook mouth-watering recipes along with chilled drinks.

Another interesting element in the custom-built campervan is a small garden in the dashboard that provides natural herbs and serves as a source of fresh air inside. Initially, the couple built it with a plan of living for one year, but after seeing their creative work, it seems more like a cozy home that can be used to spend the whole life.

Definitely, such projects are inspiring enough for people wanting to convert a van into a special place to explore natural beauty around the world.
