Pandora by Andreas Orpheas Makos and Manolis Stratis is a multifunctional sofa designed to fit easily in a small room or flat. Motive behind designing the sofa is making a furniture unit that transforms itself as per the requirement, occasion and space. And, after going through the set of images provided by the designers, the duo has successfully managed to convince us that the sofa has peculiarity of becoming a couch, a bed, three footstools, and a  folding table with minimal effort.

The Pandora sofa can be used for dining, relaxing, and studying, all features compressed into one. The need for sofa-cum-bed came out after understanding the difficulty people face while living in shoebox apartments. The sofa-cum-bed can be used according to the occasion and requirement; in the morning it can serve the purpose of coffee or study table and in nighttime, it can easily convert into a full-size bed.

The center table, stools and bed sheets can be easily placed inside the empty compartment in the sofa. To convert the sofa into a bed, you just have to pull out the frames from underneath the sofa and your bed is ready. Side cushions can be used as pillows.

During the making of the sofa, both the designers made sure to use economical and sustainable wood for low carbon footprints, making the sofa suitable for mass production and cost-effective for the single occupants.

All the polymorphic features of sofa fetched the designers bronze at A’ Design Award 2014-15 in furniture, decorative items and homeware design category.
