Suspended on giant redwoods of Santa Cruz, the Pinecone Treehouse is built by Dustin Feider of O2 Treehouse for adults wishing to explore the idea of sleeping in the air. It is elevated 35 feet above the ground on the uphill side and about 50 feet from the ground on the downhill side. The unique pinecone-esque shape and use of glass as the main building material unifies with modern architectural design, making it a one-of-a-kind treehouse rental in California.

A flight of steep ladder with handrails takes you to the glass treehouse, where you can find a queen-sized bed for two. The triangle-shaped, transparent floor panels make you feel as if you are flying through a thick forest of the Californian redwoods. There are flip-open windows to feel the scents of the forest inside the treehouse.

In addition, an open bathroom complete with hot shower, composting toilet and sink lie on the ground. Therefore, guests need to descend to the lower level to use the restroom. The woody location and the awesome glass architecture make it an incredible retreat ideal for people who want to experience chilly winds of redwoods.

Entry and exit require some effort since you need to ascend and descend the steep alternating step entry ladder and a trap door. The host recommends using the harness safety system if you’re not sure about using steps.
