Just a week ago, the famous conceptual furniture designer Deniz Aktay uploaded pictures of his new design on Instagram and it has gone viral. Named ‘Pocket,’ the furniture is a low sideboard concept, which can be used both as a sideboard and a coffee table. The Pocket coffee table brings together the traditional utility of living room furniture used to display or entertain with the practicality of a storage option. Well, I think Pocket can be a great addition to any room, be it a home or an office, hotel, or lounge area.

The table is mostly designed keeping in mind the form and functionality of bent layered plywood. The natural color of the plywood imparts a characteristic charm to the Pocket coffee table. Deniz Aktay mostly comes up with artistic designs that complement the interiors with uniqueness and high functionality.

The rectangular table has a sleek metal leg base that gives it a floating look. The right side has a cavity opening to be used to store books or magazines. It appears like a pocket from the top, hence the name.

Though only a few books can be kept in a slanted position, there is more space under the tabletop. The Pocket coffee table provides an option for storage of art pieces and other items to add more character to this living room furniture.

Deniz has once again integrated a wavy element into his conceptual design, which has become somewhat of a signature style for the designer. However, he ensures the functionality of the furniture does not get compromised by the artistic liberty he takes.

The Pocket coffee table is a great example of how a design can look artistic even with the smallest of changes in traditional furniture styles. I would love to see this design come to reality soon, as I am sure many of you will, too.
