Just when you think the tiny house industry can’t surprise you, Pod Studio comes strutting along as the world’s smartest tiny home. Pod Studio by Podform, a California-based startup, is a sustainable, portable, and expandable smart tiny house that expands three times its original size. Proving that there is always room for innovation and surprises in the industry, Pod Studio metamorphoses from a 161 square feet dwelling to a 464 square feet within 15 minutes.

The innovative dwelling, dubbed the world’s smartest tiny home, comes fully furnished and features hydraulic legs, solar panels, battery storage systems, a built-in water and septic tank, and smart technology. Moreover, the tiny house has integrated technology-driven features including climate control, security, lighting, and appliances. All these special features can be controlled via a dedicated app.

Shaped like a container, the tiny home has extra-long slide-outs to expand the living space. Not only that, but each slide-out space has an automatic awning when deployed to further the expansion. There is a projection glass wall feature that can turn the space from an intimate home into an immersive, panoramic haven with just a touch of a button.

The company dubs that the tiny house is much more robust and resistant than a standard home on a foundation. Built from aluminum and steel, Pod Studio is fire-resistant to some extent, earthquake-resistant, and wind-resistant. Moreover, the unit is highly portable and can be transported by truck to the desired location.

Pod Studio comes equipped with modern luxury features. Thanks to modular and multi-functional spaces, the fully furnished, move-in ready home has a full smart kitchen, washer, dryer, automated Murphy bed, TV, sofa bed, workspace, and built-in LED lighting.

The kitchen has an electric stove, refrigerator, freezer, and dishwasher. A bathroom complete with shower, toilet, sink, and cabinets is included. There is even a movable dining table with two chairs. Pod Studio also features a workspace with a desk, chair, Wi-Fi, wireless charging, and a closet and storage space.

The tiny house has a typical 3kW solar and battery storage system, which can be upgraded to a 10kW system. Given its array of off-grid capabilities, Pod Studio is probably one of the most self-sufficient homes we’ve seen so far.
