Founded in 2008, the Yorkshire-based design studio Pod Space offers modern and compact prefab cabins that can be used for different purposes including office work, yoga and meditation, leisure pursuits, etc. Glide pod is one of their popular models that fit for into different types of uses.

Bringing competition in prefab cabin industry, the company has developed new designs named Mini Pod, Glide Pod and Eco Pod in 2016. Measuring W 5.72m x D 3.85m x H 2.5m; Glide pod has been awarded the Red Dot Product Design award in 2017.

In most cases, the prefab cabin can be placed by professional engineers in a garden without the need for planning permission. Its exteriors are clad in dark grey composite panels that will require minimum maintenance.

As of the interior space, the white walls and floor-to-ceiling sliding glass door makes it a lively space that has numerous possibilities of use. Glide pod has a sliding louvered screen for privacy. For additional shading requirements, an optional recessed blind can be discreetly built into the pod.

The body of the Glide Pod is insulated with natural materials and can also be integrated with solar arrays to save money on electric bills. Aside from the thermal insulation, these modern backyard pods also offer impressive acoustic insulation making them ideal for study rooms, workspaces or yoga rooms. They also come with has under-floor heating to maintain a livable temperature during cold season.

Glide Pod can be purchased for approx. £30, 840 (US$40,752) at Pod Space. It is somewhat similar to the Muji prefab cabin by Japanese company that can also be used as a garden office, play room, an additional living space or an outdoor cabin.
