Who says a tiny house cannot draw inspiration from iconic architecture? The Sagnier tiny house is a perfect example, taking cues from the Farinera de Vic, a landmark building designed by renowned architect Enric Sagnier. Built by Spain-based Serena.House, the micro-dwelling is fully ecological and self-sufficient in both energy and water. Created as part of a sustainable tourism initiative supporting local small farmers, it now serves as a cozy vacation retreat for a family of four.
Inspired by the Catalan architecture of the famous building, the “Casa Sagnier” tiny house features a red and white color combination paired with pastel green accents on the window and door frames. The entrance is elevated and accessed via a set of wooden steps. Inside, it maximizes space through a reverse loft layout, placing the children’s bedroom underneath the elevated living area.
The builder has thoughtfully positioned the windows to maximize the connection with the outdoors. The standout feature is an oversized picture window in the elevated rear lounge area that offers expansive views and abundant natural light. The children’s bedroom, located under the living room area, also includes two small windows, one positioned next to each bed to ensure the space remains bright and fresh.
There is a large window in the kitchen area that swings open horizontally, allowing it to function as an open-air bar or serving area. The master bedroom is in the loft and can be accessed via a small staircase. Here you can also find a large window. The window placement prioritizes cross-ventilation and the use of natural light to reduce the need for artificial lighting and improve the sense of spaciousness within its compact footprint.

The interior space is designed to be spacious and family-friendly. The layout includes four fixed beds, with the capacity to accommodate up to six people. It also includes a full bathroom with separate toilets and a kitchen area equipped with a fridge, a sink, and a two-burner cooktop. Custom-made furniture is used to maximize the space.
One more thing we would like to highlight is the focus on ecological materials in construction, including non-toxic paints and Insulation made from natural materials. The Sagnier tiny house is entirely autonomous in energy and water, featuring a complete solar system, a 1000-liter drinking water tank, and dry toilets with phytofiltration.
