Finally, there is an official announcement, and the consumer tech giant has raised curtain off of the new QLED 8K TV lineup with almost negligible bezel. These new TVs feature an impressive screen-to-body ratio of nearly 99 percent to offer an unparalleled viewing experience.

The new TV makes use of artificial intelligence to improve audio, video and smart capabilities. Plus, there is a range of smart features powered by Tizen to access new features like Tap View, Digital Butler and Samsung Health. According to Samsung, the Q950TS QLED 8K is the first TV in the industry to feature surround sound, 8K resolution and a compact form factor.

Have a look below to know the features in detail:

Enhanced TV Design

Samsung’s new Q950 TV practically eliminates the bezel around the display, like no one in the industry has done before. A stunning Infinity Screen effect is created where the bezels seem to disappear. In addition, the TV measures just 15 millimeters thin and can lay flush against the wall with a flat black panel.

Picture Quality

Each model from the new TV lineup meets the requirements of the 8K Association’s Certified Test Specifications as well as the CTA 8K Ultra HD Display Definition. All the TVs can stream AV1 codec videos filmed in 8K.

Based on Samsung semiconductor technology, Q950’s Quantum Processor 8K features AI upscaling capabilities that use machine learning to analyze and identify the characteristics of individual pixels. It then restores different elements of the image to create a clear 8K picture, regardless of the content source.

With the Adaptive Picture feature that utilizes AI, the TV can maintain a clear picture in bright rooms while maintaining contrast. There is another feature named AI ScaleNet that ensures a smooth streaming connection by optimizing the available network bandwidth.

Sound Quality

The Q950 8K TV features speakers on every side of the display, as well as sub-woofers in the back. With onboard Object Tracking Sound+, which uses AI-based software to match the movement of audio sound with the movement of objects on the screen, it delivers a crisp and clear 5.1 channel surround sound.

With Active Voice Amplifier (AVA), the Q950 can adjust the volume in response to sounds around. For example, if there is a blender running in the vicinity, the TV will automatically raise the volume to ensure dialogues are not missed and then also automatically lower the volume to as adjusted when the blender’s switched off. It can also use the built-in speakers as an additional audio channel when connected to a 2020 Q Series soundbar like the Q800 using Q-Symphony technology.

Improved Viewing Experience

Samsung’s new 8K TVs come with improved entertainment, connectivity, and smart home and TV control capabilities. Samsung’s AI assistant Bixby has become smarter. Consumers can use their TV to change the mood of a room. For example, when you ask Bixby to create a calm environment, the TV will display a relaxing backdrop on the screen. In addition, Samsung will be integrating Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant support into the 2020 QLED 8K lineup.

The Q950 8K TV features a new and improved Universal Guide that uses AI-based algorithms to offer recommendations tailored to personal habits and tastes. Another cool feature is Samsung TV Plus, Samsung’s free smart TV video service. With just an internet connection, consumers can instantly access news, sports, entertainment, and more.

Connected Living

The Q950 8K TV can serve as a central hub for fitness and mindfulness within the home thanks to the Samsung Health feature on the TV. It allows users to see their activities, tracks their progress, and pursue shared fitness goals with the entire family. In addition, they also have access to free and exclusive content from leading partners, including Calm, FitPlan, Jillian Michaels, Echelon, Obe Fitness, and Barre 3 and more.

Another noticeable feature is Multi-View that projects the screen of the users’ mobile device onto the TV alongside a separate window for their TV content and Tap View that allows users to mirror their phone screens to the TV just by touching the two devices together. There’s more, the TVs come with Digital Butler that can detect non-IoT devices within the home and let users control them easily.
