German designer Sebastian Herkner’s latest Spirit 2026 collection, in collaboration with Turkish furniture brand ENNE, reinterprets the relationship between nature, material, and perception. Recently exhibited at the 2026 Salone del Mobile, the collection comprises the Lien sofa, Ember lamps, and Monad tables, all featuring organic forms and a unique material language to reflect the design narrative of the slow transformation of matter.

The main highlight of the collection is the Lien sofa, distinguished by a metal band that extends through the curved shape of the backrest. This is not just a metal frame for decoration, but it also helps hold the sofa’s shape.

The design concept revolves around achieving fluid curves as if they are shaped by wind over sand, defining its natural connection. The sofa comes with a modular design that allows you to expand it into seats, chaise lounges, side tables, and poufs as per the different needs of contemporary living.

Next is the Monad tables made from a single block of marble. These tables initially look light in appearance, but their solid nature becomes noticeable when you view them closely. The smooth oval edges and the slightly indented top surface give the design a soft appearance. The legs are not separate pieces attached later, but they seem to naturally grow out of the main form. The entire table looks unified like one continuous sculpted object.

The final piece in the collection is the Ember lamp, which uses diffused light as its defining feature. Composed of overlapping molten-glass forms that rise upward, the lamp introduces a sculptural presence into the space.

Due to the transparent nature of glass, light passes through and reflects across the layered surfaces, producing delicate patterns of brightness and shadow. The overall effect is light and fluid, almost invisible, just like air that is sensed through movement.

The Ember lamp also comes in a ceiling version featuring three differently sized hanging elements that create an artistic shape. As you get closer, the more details you notice. It also features a layered form that spreads light softly, making it feel visually dramatic.

The Spirit 2026 collection directly reflects its connection to nature with its organic forms and material choice. The main idea is to explore layered narratives and the evolving relationship between form, material, and meaning.
