Right upgrades to a workspace result in a better work environment inspiring employees to work their best. A contemporary office space includes befitting furniture, lighting, décor, and a purpose-driven design. Reflecting on similar lines, Snøhetta, the notable Norwegian studio, crafts its maiden office light Superdupertube in collaboration with Sweden-based lighting manufacturer Ateljé Lyktan. The luminaire is made from extruded hemp and sugarcane bioplastic to suit your workrooms.

Snøhetta Superdupertube is a nod to Ateljé Lyktan’s Supertube, an original design crafted as an aluminum office light in 1970. The unusual choice of material for Superdupertube displays Snøhetta’s commitment to modestly recreating design. With a vision to reduce the lamp’s carbon footprint by over 50%, the designers settled on hemp due to its robust fibers and minimal ecological impact both in material and function.

The elongated light has round edges embracing an organic beige color displaying the material’s natural pattern. Its electric cables are covered with linen fabric. Various crafting techniques are employed, including mixing hemp with polylactic acid bioplastic, wood cellulose, and other minerals to form a gas-free composite, which is then extruded to form the main body of the lamp.

Due to the unavailability of locally produced ‘quality’ hemp, it was specially sourced from the Netherlands. The dimmable Superdupertube light features twisted louvers and comes in four lengths to suit your requirements.

Available in two color temperatures, 4000K (tuned to 3800K ambient light) and 3000K (tuned to 2800K ambient light), each LED lamp displays a slight variation of color with the use of different hemp crops. The ceiling lamp is easy to assemble with replaceable parts and can be industrially composted. Visit Snøhetta to get more information about the versatile office light.
