Sonos is undoubtedly the biggest player in multi-room audio, and its 2026 releases further strengthen the system. The Sonos Play leak offered glimpses of its latest offerings, leading to confirmation of two new speakers arriving in 2026. These new speakers will let you expand your music system over time for an immersive sound experience. Another addition to its lineup of audio gear is the Era 100 SL, which offers a more accessible way to enter the Sonos experience. Termed as a spiritual successor to Sonos One SL due to the lack of a microphone, it is designed for privacy-conscious users who do not want to use voice commands.

This speaker retains the same acoustic architecture, design, and core connectivity options of the earlier Era 100 model. The most exciting feature is the seamless integration into your existing Sonos system, allowing you to upgrade in the future. This means you can use it on its own, pair two for wider stereo sound, add them to a compatible soundbar (can be used as surrounds with Arc Ultra, Arc, Beam, Ray) for a home theater experience, or place them in rooms for music throughout your home.

The Sonos Era 100 SL differentiates from the earlier Era 100 with the exclusion of microphones. The Era 100 features a far-field microphone array for voice control, while the Era 100 SL has no internal microphones, meaning it does not support any voice assistants.

As for the audio architecture, each Era 100 SL has three Class-D digital amplifiers, two angled tweeters, and a mid-woofer to ensure a great sound experience. It supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and Apple AirPlay 2 for connectivity, and includes a USB-C line-in port to connect external sources like a turntable. The speaker also supports Trueplay tuning through the Sonos app on iOS to optimize sound for the room’s unique acoustics.

The Era 100 SL speaker comes with onboard touch controls and companion mobile apps for easy control. Its sound quality is adjusted with expert advice so it reproduces audio exactly how creators intended. With detailed stereo separation and deep bass even at high volume, it elevates your audio experience across various media forms.

Sonos says you don’t need every speaker in your setup to have built-in voice control if you already have a voice-enabled soundbar. The Era 100 SL delivers just that and takes the price down. The dimensions are kept the same as the Era 100, but the weight has been reduced to 1.95 kg. The Sonos Era 100 SL is now available for pre-order at $189 on the official website.
