Stilt Studios, a company founded by Florian Holm, has unveiled its most extensive project dubbed Octagon treehouse restaurant nestled amidst the serene surroundings of Grun Resort Uluwatu, Bali. A treehouse restaurant elevated on stilts, the octagonal-shaped structure is a tribute to the earth. The Octagon positions to create a leeway that nurtures a connection with the surrounding forest.

The exterior of Octagon is made of a harmonious blend of steel, glass, and reclaimed wood, creating an equatorial-industrial aesthetic. The inclusion of steel not only contributes to its modern elegance but also guarantees durability and recyclability.

Complementing this, the use of reclaimed wood evokes a sense of history and authenticity, personifying sustainability by reducing demand for new timber. In keeping with Stilt Studio’s ethos to ‘lighten the impact on the earth,’ the Octagon utilizes readymade building elements, using as many wooden materials as possible for carbon storage.

The interior of the Octagon treehouse restaurant caters to diverse functions and needs. The lower floor provides space for a restaurant, a bar, a kitchen, and a guest toilet. The upper floor of the Octagon appears to dance lightly above the ground with large sliding doors. Along with that, a strategically positioned circular skylight at the center opens inviting views of the forest, infusing the interiors with an abundance of natural light.

The open-plan layout, combined with low, laid-back furniture, creates an airy and spacious feel and allows circulation to flow naturally accommodating various activities and areas such as an office, a yoga class venue, and an event space. The Octagon’s upper floor also features an expensive decking system that encircles the structure.

The architects at Stilt Studio emphasize innovation and sustainability by showing the tree house as a resort structure and also dedicating themselves to living in harmony with nature.
