London-based property management company Lowe Guardians has partnered with the local architectural firm Studio Bark for a new modular shed concept which aims to provide affordable housing to young people dealing with high rental rates in London. Award-winning designer Anna Glover has designed the interior design of the pod, and it shows in how good it looks. This modular cabin can be built inside in vacant rooms as temporary self-contained living quarters. It works like a portable indoor pod with loft sleeping space.

This prefab indoor cabin is made of low-cost and eco-friendly materials such as Smartply (formaldehyde-free OSB), recycled polyester and lamb’s wool insulation. Each OSB panel used for construction is CNC’ed for brevity, accuracy and to minimize waste. These panels are then bolted together in a standard pattern to form soundproof accommodation.

It takes just one day to assemble it with simple tools, and in case you need to move it to a different location, simply take down all the bolts and rebuilt at a new location. People having building experience can easily assemble it with mallet and a drill. The shed concept seems great to utilize vacant spaces in cities and provide low-cost housing to young professionals struggling in cities while being a good alternative for home owners who want to rent vacant rooms in their buildings.
