Matter is a unifying, IP-based connectivity protocol that brings compatible smart home devices on one platform for easy control. Brands including Amazon, Apple, Google, and Samsung have backed the idea, and not so long ago IKEA teased the DIRIGERA Matter-ready hub to make multi-device integration easier. Keeping with the trend, Chinese company SwitchBot has debuted a new Matter-enabled hub, hoping to grab attention through CES 2023.

Named SwitchBot Hub 2, it is a Wi-Fi-based hub that can make Bluetooth-powered SwitchBot devices work with Matter: connect the devices to the hub and control them on Apple Home or other platforms via Matter. The company says Hub 2 has a thermo-hygrometer that allows users to “check the temperature and humidity on Apple Home.”

SwitchBot Hub 2 has a LED display on the front to show the temperature and humidity readings. The display can change brightness with a built-in light sensor. There are two Scene Keys on the hub to trigger Scenes preset in SwitchBot App. These keys can be used to control other SwitchBot devices synced to the ecosystem.

SwitchBot Hub 2 is scheduled to launch in late February. At launch, the Hub 2 will make SwitchBot Curtain the first company product compatible with Matter. The Chinese tech company is inclined at adding support to its other Bluetooth products in the coming months.
