Goodwoof Barkitecture is all about innovative dog kennels. With some of the world’s most renowned architects turning their talents to designing ‘pawsome’ kennels, the event is an annual tail wagger. One of the standout designs at the 2023 event is ‘The Dog’, created by the talented team at Hawkes Architecture.

Part of Barkitecture’s brand-new theme of ‘A Companion Piece – Dogs at Work,’ this stunning dog house is handcrafted from Rye willow in collaboration with the skilled Willow Weaver, Julie Gurr. The design is a woven set of balls that come together to form a unique and eye-catching dog house.

Hawkes Architecture thrives on sustainability in design by reusing waste materials in fun, practical, and creative ways. After the success of One Woman and Her Dog kennel last year, which is a recyclable survival vehicle that takes a dog and its master across any terrain, the designers are back this year with a nest-like dog house woven from fallen rye willow.

Undeniably, Hawkes Architecture has put a lot of thought and care into the creation of this kennel. The woven design ensures that air can circulate freely, providing a comfortable and well-ventilated space for up two pooches. Intrinsically it looks fragile like a bird nest, but the assured sturdy construction should allow the piece to withstand even the most enthusiastic of chewers!

‘The Dog’ isn’t just a pretty face: it’s also a practical solution for any dog owner. With its spacious interior, it’s the perfect place for furry friends to relax after a hard day’s work; and with its stylish exterior, it’s a dog house that a owner would be proud to have on display.

If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind dog house that celebrates all things canine, then ‘The Dog’ by Hawkes Architecture should be where your search ends. The kennel is sure to be a hit at the upcoming Goodwoof Barkitecture and it will go under the hammer for charity in a live sale by Bonhams on 21 May, 2023.
